Rehabilitation Near Medanta: a Practical Guide for Families

First, the disclosure this article exists to make plainly: Neuranta is fully independent. We are in Sector 39, Gurugram, near Medanta — a geographic fact and nothing more. We wrote this guide because families pass through this neighbourhood’s hospitals constantly, and the question “what happens after discharge, and does it have to happen far away?” deserves a straight local answer — including when that answer is “not here”.
If your family member is being treated in the Sector 38–39 area
Discharge from a neurology or neurosurgery admission usually arrives with an instruction to continue rehabilitation, and a choice the family has had no time to prepare for: go home and search there, or begin structured rehabilitation close to where the acute care happened.
There is a practical logic to staying close, particularly for outstation families. The treating hospital remains within reach for follow-up appointments. Temporary accommodation is usually already arranged in this area. And the decision about what happens next does not have to be made from a hospital corridor on the morning of discharge.
Neither choice is automatically right, though. If home is close and a good centre exists there, going home is often the better answer — for cost, for family support, and for the patient’s own morale. What matters more than the location is that the rehabilitation gap — the drift between discharge and the start of structured therapy — stays short, because early momentum is hard to recover once it has been lost. Three questions worth asking any centre, including this one
Proximity is the easiest thing to compare and the least important. These three separate a rehabilitation programme from a package:
- What are the written goals, and on what date are they reviewed? A plan with no review date cannot be judged, and a programme that can never conclude “this isn’t working” is a subscription rather than a treatment.
- Which registered profession does each person treating my relative actually hold? Physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology are separately registered professions in India. The answer should be specific, and you are entitled to ask it.
- Who stays with the patient overnight, and what is expected of my family? Residential rehabilitation is not a hospital admission and the answer differs between centres. Here, a family member or a hired attendant is expected to stay with the patient.

What happens if you contact us from the hospital
Bring the discharge summary, or send it on WhatsApp to +91 70786 42986. A clinician reads it and calls you back — including to tell you honestly if structured rehabilitation is not indicated yet, or if your home city would serve your family better than travelling or staying on here. Sending reports for a review commits you to nothing.
If a programme does make sense, an assessment produces a written, goal-based plan with its review dates set at the start. Depending on what the assessment finds, that plan runs as inpatient, day-care or OPD — with caregiver training built in, so the family member who eventually takes the patient home goes home trained.
What to bring
- The discharge summary, and any earlier ones from this admission
- Imaging and reports — scans, and the radiologist’s report where you have it
- The current medication list, as prescribed at discharge
- A plain description of what the patient could do before the event — walking, stairs, dressing, speaking, eating — because that is what goals get set against
- The person who will actually be caring for the patient at home, if they can come

Are you part of Medanta, or run by its doctors?
No. Neuranta is an independent rehabilitation centre. “Near Medanta” describes where we are and nothing else — there is no affiliation, tie-up or referral arrangement.
Do we need a referral to come to you?
No referral is needed. Bring the discharge summary and reports. Your treating doctor’s instructions are respected in the plan.
Can you coordinate with the treating hospital’s doctors?
We work from their written summaries and reports, and families continue their medical follow-ups with their treating doctors as scheduled. Rehabilitation runs alongside medical care, never instead of it.
Does sending the discharge summary commit us to anything?
No. You are asking for a clinical read on whether a programme here suits your family member. If the honest answer is that it does not, we say so, and that is the end of it.
How long will rehabilitation take?
Nobody can answer that before an assessment, and a centre that gives you a number on the phone is guessing.
